What type of case is best for a gun. hard or soft and what is the best kind of the bag.?

my gun is 45'; and has a scope at the thickest part is 6';. dont want the scope to break.What type of case is best for a gun. hard or soft and what is the best kind of the bag.?
MY hard cases are for one thing only, Flying. I transport my rifles in my soft cases to and from the range. Even when I do use the hard cases I still put them in gunsocks just for a little added protections.





If you are going on a long road trip or are flying or taking a train. Hard cases are the way to go. Make sure if you are flying to check the airlines policies about transporting firearms. You also need a good case with a good lock don't skimp on the case as it can ruin your firearms. good quality hard cases are expensive but they are worth it.





Now one last bit of advice. Never store your firearms in hard or soft cases. If you live in an area of high humidity this can ruin even a stainless steel gun. I have seen stainless steel guns rust from being stored in hard cases and not being properly cleaned and protected. I have also seen firearms rust that were cleaned wiped down with a light coat of oil and stored in hard cases.

Hard cases protect the firearm %26amp; optics better than soft cases.





Soft cases equipped with shoulder straps make carrying a firearm easier.

For transporting one or more hard cases, a large duffel bag is used to enclose the hard case(s) and carry them with the duffel bag shoulder-strap.

If you can afford to fly with your firearms, you can afford airline-approved hard cases. But flying with firearms is something relatively few people do on a regular basis.
depends on how expensive your set up is %26amp; how much you care for it. I'm not against soft cases or anything but I have always bought hard cases for my guns. although for smaller calibers like .22 and such I have no problem putting them in a soft case. so I would probably recommend a hard case
For traveling definately go for a hard case, but for general handling go for the soft case, much lighter %26amp; easier to handle. Check out Cabela's they have a good selection.
