Can i use my digital camera to do underwater photography using ziploc bag as casing underwater?

i'm not after the clarity of the shot. i just want a photo of me and friends underneath the swimming pool. Can i use my digital camera to do underwater photography using ziploc bag as casing underwater?
You can definitely give it a try, but the risk is yours.

You should get a proper underwater casing for your camera. If yours is a common brand or model, you should be able to get it easily from ebay.

My advise : Don't Try it... Any error with your ziploc bag, and your camera is as good as gone. Can i use my digital camera to do underwater photography using ziploc bag as casing underwater?
Problems with underwater photography does not only deal with water proofing. It also includes water pressure. As you swim down further from the surface, pressure increases. The zip in Ziploc bags are not built to stand such pressures even it is only a few feet deep.

Look around digital photo stores or eBay. There are underwater camera cases that would fit almost any size and shape of camera. If you value your camera, buy one made by your camera's brand for your specific camera's model.
that sounds risky.

If it does spring a leak, and the camera gets wet do this:

DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON!

get it out of the water as fast as you can, pad it dry with a towel then, remove the battery and memory card, here comes the crazy part- put it in a large container of rice. The rice will act like a sponge and absorb any moisture in the device. Leave it in there for a few days, or even up to a week. You might get lucky.
No problem in depths up to about 4-5 feet...don't go deeper! Keep zipper at bottom, not on top! Make sure the zip bag is held smooth over lens and you should be ok. Once you get out of water, DRY off bag with towel before you take out camera....digital cameras hate water!
oh yea i do it all the time it works great some people say it is to

risky but i do it any way i just use a sandwich size ziploc bag.

no worries!
i wouldnt chance it water would probably get in
