I have a soft/hard case. It has the protection of a hard case on the outside with the cushion of a soft case on the inside.Should I buy a gig bag or a hard case for my ukulele?
=},
I have hard and soft cases. I take my ukulele as a carry on and I use the soft cushioned case and have never had a problem. I always store it under the seat in front of me and am mindful of anyone stepping through. If I were going to check it I'd go for the soft/hard case, wrap it in a thick plastic bag, and tape it up real good.
Have fun and a good trip.

You are allowed to take an instrument on planes as hand luggage. So if you don't want to shell out for a hardcase, you can do it that way.
What you will need if you are going to somewhere as dry as Texas is a humidifier. A guitar humidifier will work just fine.

It'll stop your ukulele from cracking and warping.
A hard case is definately worth the price you'll pay if you are going to be traveling with your instrument especially if you're taking it on the plane.
Good luck and happy travels!
I would go with a hard case. They also make soft/hard cases, which still protect your ukulele but are not as heavy as the usual hard cases. I love the soft/hard cases!
deff a hard case.. no matter the climate it will keep it safe and will prevent it from being broken on the plane.. plus it lasts MUCH longer
Hard Case. The last thing you want is to end up in Texas with it damaged.
