What is the opinion on storing firearms in soft case bags ?

Padded cases, especially those cheap egg foam cases tend to suck the oil off of your gun and also absord moisture from the air. Your gun will rust quicker if you leave it in those types of cases for long periods of time. If you use and clean your gun regularly this isn't really a problem though. I've also noticed eezox works great if you are storing your gun in a foam case because after applying a coat of eezox it is dry to the touch and the foam does not absorb it like it does with regular gun oil. Eezox comes in a can or a spray bottle and is an all in one gun care solution that cleans, protects, lubricates and even prevents finger printing. The spray sure makes cleaning your gun a heck of a lot faster too, but it is somewhat pricey. What is the opinion on storing firearms in soft case bags ?
Make sure you wipe off the access eezox when you are done cleaning or it gets all gooie. You only need a thin layer.

If you have no other choice for long term storage, soft cases can be okay. You do need some sort of dessicant, however. I have used the pouches that come with tools, shoes, etc. Tell your wife to save them for you whenever she buys new shoes. You can throw a few of those in your soft case and they do the job. Every few months, remove them and zap them in your microwave for 15 sec. to revive them. I am saying this with the premise that you have properly cleaned out the bore and put a very light film of good rust preventative on the metal. Of course, the best method is a good safe with dessicant but those can be out of some folk's budget. Good luck!
even if the gun and case is dry when you put it in, the case can absorb moisture from humidity in the air, and then not let it escape. This can cause your gun to rust.
Soft bags are fine for anything without a scope.. hardcase for scoped wepons.
Its not recommended.*
I treat my arms with respect, like any man should. Locked up, hard case.
I think it's a great idea.
